A. Demetrius Chalachan + Anna Fedorko (Janko Halahan's parents)
Marriage FOUND. Praurócz Religious Marriage Registers 1824–1891 (image group 004406932, item 3, image 16 of 37; index record https://www.familysearch.org/ark:/61903/1:1:6N9X-KQQ8):
- 21 January 1861, Praurócz: "Teodorus Chalachan", of Praurócz, 22 (b. ~1839), Greek Catholic, single, × Anna Fedircz (Fedorko), 18 (b. ~1843), single. Godparents/witnesses (right page): Andreas Hrib, Joannes Czipka, Andreas Gurman(?). The page heading year is 1853; this 1861 entry was added on the same page.
- The index reads the groom's name as Teodorus, but on the image it reads as "Deodor" / Theodorus. Janko's 1869 baptism names the father Mitro (Demetrius). In Rusyn usage, Teodor/Fedor and Dmitro/Demeter are different names. Still, the bride (Anna Fedircz/Fedorko), the place (Praurócz), the date (1861, first child Ilya born 1864) and the witnesses (Hrib, Czipka, who were later godparents to Janko's children) all match this couple. The groom's name could be a scribe's or indexer's variant. Probably the same couple; the name difference is unresolved.
- The register has no parents column, so the groom's parents are not named.

Groom's birth, candidate. Praurócz baptisms, image 15 of 528 (DGS 004406932), year 1838:
- no. 10: Demetrius, born 28 Oct 1838, parents Michael Fedor[čo?] H. Colon. Prav. and his wife Maria Holtvin(?), godparents Joannes Czabityak(?) and Eva Bojtovic(?).
- Born 1838 fits the groom's age of 22 in 1861.
- The father's surname reads as "Fedor…/Fedorčo", not Chalachan. However, the index has a burial of "Chalachan Fedorczo Mihály" (Praurócz, 1847-05-06, aged 18), so the Chalachans of Praurócz also used the alias Fedorczo. That makes this Demetrius a plausible candidate for Janko's father, born to Michael Chalachan alias Fedorčo and Maria. UNPROVEN.

Other Chalachans in the index, born 1835–43: - Joannes, baptized 1838 at Vyšná Oľka, parents Alexius Chalachan and Helena Dzijakó. - Basilius (born ~1838) married Eva Stefura in 1863. - Joannes (born ~1843) married Anna Lampl in 1868. - Anna, baptized 1844 at Repejov, parents Mihály Chalachan and Maria. This is a Mihály Chalachan with a wife Maria, which fits the 1838 candidate's parents.
Not done: - Demetrius's and Anna's deaths, from the Varechovce and Praurócz death registers. - The 1861–65 faded Varechovce marriage page. It is no longer needed, because the marriage was found in the Praurócz book.
B. Julia Lipcsák, born 1895-10-21, Krásny Brod
- Krásny Brod Greek Catholic catalog koha:728271 has two image groups:
- DGS 4405909: baptisms 1828–52, 1775–1840 and 1875–1945 (main book), marriages, deaths, plus duplicates 1882–91. Images 1–290 are open (the old books up to ~1852). Images 292–642, which include the 1875–1945 book, are padlocked: "Image Restricted".
- DGS 4406756: duplicates (Druhopisy) for 1891–1895. Viewed images 45–57:
- The 1895 duplicates end at 30 September 1895: Krásny Brod marriages image 56, Rokytovce baptisms images 52–54.
- That is the day before Hungarian state civil registration began (1 Oct 1895).
- So Julia's October 1895 baptism is not in any open image. It would be in:
- the restricted 1875–1945 main book (viewable only at a FamilySearch Center or affiliate library), or
- the civil birth register from Oct 1895 (Slovak civil registers at the Prešov state archive; not online).
- The FamilySearch index has no baptism for Julia Lipcsák in 1895. The only Julia Lipcsak indexed is a girl who died in 1896, daughter of Tivadar Lipcsak and Mária Sztáraj; she is not ours.
- No marriage of John Lipcsák and Mary Kovák/Kohvak was found in the index.
- The Krásny Brod duplicate marriages for 1891–95 that were viewed (images 46, 56) do not include it. A marriage before 1891 would be in the restricted main book.
- Dead end online. Next step: a FamilySearch Center or affiliate library visit (DGS 4405909 images 292+), or the Štátny archív v Prešove.
